HKEDU has been my second family since I joined the company in 2004. Living far away from home can be a stressful experience, but HKEDU helped me adjust and adapt to a different culture. As Program Manager it has also allowed me to work with a diverse group of people around the world. HKEDU allows me to embrace and appreciate the changes that let me grow professionally. It has been a great pleasure being a part of an energetic and ambitious company.

Back in September 2018 I found myself having finished university and stuck in a unrewarding boring job and in serious need of a change.
I decided to get myself a Tefl and try living abroad, I originally intended to stay for just one year of experience but fell in love with Hong Kong and my school out here. 4 years later and I'm still here enjoying it as much as I did at the beginning.
Maggie and HKEDU have looked after me from the second I landed being available for any concerns or challenges I faced with both work and the transition to another country.
Being a musician I have been lucky enough to able to use my skills in the work environment bringing joy to the children I have the pleasure of teaching. I would recommend HKEDU to anybody who is up for challenging themselves and wants to move to a city that really has everything from the beautiful buzzing city life to the breath taking beaches and hiking trails to offer.

Hello, I am Josh! I've been working in Hong Kong for HKEDU for the past three years right now and it's been one of the best and most rewarding experiences of my life. Settling into a brand new country can be very daunting and it is not always easy in the beginning but I quickly found my feet with the help of everyone at HKEDU. Everything was much easier when having supportive people around me to help find a place to live and places to go. I was put into a really lovely school full of great students and staff and so I settled very quickly into the job. I moved to Hong Kong with my boyfriend after university with the plan of staying for one year, but by the time it was over we weren’t ready to leave. We stayed for 2 years and fell in love with Hong Kong. It’s the most amazing place and I can’t recommend it highly enough. I worked in a few different schools with HKEDU, some of which I liked more than others, and overall it was an incredible experience and I learnt so much.

I lived and worked in Hong Kong for HKEDU for three years and I can definitely say that they were three of the best years of my life. I worked in a great school and found it very rewarding working with small children and teaching them English. Everyone at HKEDU was always there to support me with settling into a new country and I always felt I could go to them for help with any issues I had. “Hi, I'm Kieran and I came to Hong Kong with HKEDU in the autumn of 2016 and I'm very happy that I did!! Firstly, I had a very smooth & clear application and interview process that included an interview with Maggie and a school interview with my Principal (as well as a separate preparation chat with Maggie before the school one). During these Skype calls, Maggie was helpful and supportive, answering my many questions about my potential future work and wider life! Before my arrival, I was introduced to my soon-to-be flatmate over email, plus when I landed I was met at the airport and taken to my new home in Mong Kok. All of this meant that, while the culture shock was definitely challenging, a lot of things were taken care of. Once I started at the school, my principal mostly dictated my day-to-day life but, if there were any matters to be discussed or queried, Maggie was on hand to answer my messages and provide assistance.
Alongside my job, HKEDU has run a number of social activities that have been good to get to know fellow teachers in the company working in other schools. These have included parties at Oktoberfest, Christmas, summer BBQs - and the Chinese New Year Red Packets are pretty good too.
All in all, I've had a great experience coming out to HK with HKEDU...and I'm still here in this mad & fun city now! “

The Big Move to the world of Dim Sums.
My travels in South East Asia came to an end in August 2017 and the big move to Hong Kong became inevitable. However, I was never worried, Hong Kong Education Provider (HKEDU) made sure from the time I landed until the time I started a new job that it would all be okay. From airport transfers to finding an apartment, the help was never ending.
For the first two weeks it was training, where Maggie took us under her wing and Introduced us not only to the teaching world in Hong Kong but also to the world of Hong Kong; culture, food and how to navigate this crazy, amazing city. This was just the beginning.
The transition from the comforts of training to the new job could not have been easier. Maggie took us to school for the first time and introduced us to everyone, she made sure we knew where our office was and exactly what we would be doing. The first day of my new work was just moments away.
It took a few weeks to get into the swing of things, learning the do’s and don’ts of my new school and transforming from a tense awkward teacher to a energetic, bubbly teacher who could make the lessons enjoyable. It does not take long to realise that it is so much easier to be completely crazy and giving the children something to laugh at. With the help of my work colleague and roommate, we were able to really enjoy the work. We fell in love with each child. We taught K1, K2 and K3 (ages 3 to 5) and throughout the year watched them grow and improve in, not only our English class, but in all aspects of schooling.
To wrap up, from my first day in Hong Kong till the last day at this school, it has been nothing but positive. HKEDU made the transition smooth and my school made the job even more enjoyable then i could have imagined. It was not as frightening as I had first imagined, but instead it was most enjoyable and very rewarding.
